80s Fashion & Neon Revolution February 23, 2016 06:00
#Cyberdog takes a look into #80sfashion and the long lasting #neontrendAs you probably all know by now, 80s fashion inspired Cyberdog to push the boundaries into the space time continuum. Cyberdog aim to bring the 80s into the future with their innovative, rave inspired clothing lines. Born in the 90’s, it is no wonder that Cyberdog was partly inspired by the 80s fashion trends.
The 90s fashion brought a feeling of freedom, however it all originally began in the 80s. People started getting tattoos, body piercing and other skin modifications. But, although 90s fashion veered towards a more minimalistic style, the 80’s still had a large influence on Cyberdog’s designs.
80s Fashion & the Neon Trend
Fashion in the 80s was about making a statement. Clothing and accessories tended to be bright, colourful, and even revealing at times. Both women and men expressed their confidence and success through large accessories such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets and so on. Of course this was accompanied by bright clothing- which is where neon really kicked off.
Make a Statement with Neon Fashion
As the second half of the 80s decade kicked in, hippies slowly became a thing of the past and people started to let loose. 80s fashion trends began to speak out against materialism and “the norm”. More and more people began to identify with the neon revolution and rave culture, transforming 80s fashion into a lifestyle rather than just a trend. Women became empowered and started wearing long flared skirts, miniskirts, spandex cycling shorts, jumpsuits, and bright colours on the daily. Men went through a fashion revolution of their own. They became confident enough to wear slim fitting suits, skin tight apparel, club wear, and metallic fabric shirts. 80s fashion from the male and female perspective veered towards colourful accessories, brightly coloured glasses frames and neon coloured make up.
Neon, the Future of Fashion
Although neon fashion has been going through changes in the last 25 years, it has kept its core values. The neon trends that came with the evolution of 80s fashion still convey a strong message today. 80s fashion sub genres have emerged such as futuristic clothing, cyber goths, cyber punks, anime fashion (often catering to cosplay enthusiasts, like Cyberdog’s Daisuki Line) and more.
People have used 80s fashion to show they are loud and proud to be part of these new trends. Being an 80s raver, cyber goth or cyber punk has become part of people’s daily outfits rather than just an occasional fashion statement. 80s fashion sub genres usually cater to the rebellious- those who are not afraid to step out of the ordinary.
80s Fashion for the Future
Cyberdog have used 80s fashion inspiration, brought it to the present and aim to take it into another dimension. Our House of Neon line is all about 80s fashion influence- the bright colours, pixelated fonts, old school accessories and platform shoes. They all come together to form a retro, yet futuristic style. Cyberdog’s mash of 80s fashion and intergalactic tweaks makes it the go to place for all futuristic clothing today.
If you want to rock the latest styles on this side of the galaxy swing by one of our stores in Camden, Brighton or Manchester. Alternatively you can always find us online at www.cyberdog.net (run by our space cadets from a galaxy far far away). Cybergoth Era- Add Colour to Darkness February 19, 2016 05:00
The Cybergoth trend is taking over and #cyberdog are here to help!
Cybergoth is a word that is being used more and more throughout society today. Indie, alternative and all those genres are things of the past. 2016 is all about celebrating our goth and raver communities. With the weather in England being the way it is, it is no wonder that people want to add colour to these darker days. Ravers and goths have come together to build the Cybergoth subculture that is now invading our world. At Cyberdog we’ve embraced these two fashion worlds coming together. Our Future Noir, Camden Originals, Cybercore and House of Neon lines are all about providing for our fellow “gravers”.
Introduced in 1988, worn in 1999
The word cybergoth started because of roleplaying games that were introduced in 1988. It only became an identity in the late 90’s. With the 80’s and 90’s welcoming ravers, goth fashion had to get involved. Combining elements of goth and rave fashion it is not a surprise that the word “graver” started being used more often. London and New York Fashion came together to build one style linking the British Raver with the NYC Club Kid theme. In time, goths started wearing goggles, neon accessories and of course black clothes. Platforms, PVC, gas masks and a variety of other accessories became fashion statements.
Music to Make your Inner Cybergoth Smile
It’s not just about fashion! Cybergoth music also took a turn towards awesomeness. Techno, Drum and Bass, Acid Trance, Dubstep and Dance all followed with a bang. Music and the videos that came with it changed for the good and it hasn’t stopped yet. This January, Grimes’s music video for “Kill V. Maim” was described as able to “make the Cybergoth Inside you smile” by The Muse. She embraces her graver within and has made an insane video to show for it!
Gaming isn’t far behind! In 2015, Klang blended Cybergoth and electro dance music and turned into a sick rhythm platform. Gaming took a turn to the future. Old school rave, new school goth, gamers and sci fi enthusiasts must have gone insane! Not only did Klang design a game that is awesome but he’s used tunes created by -bLiNd- which can only be an added bonus. If you’re in Texas in March you can’t miss SXSW.
Cybergoth- a Growing Fashion Trend
From a fashion point of view, people say that the famous David Bowie (may he rest in peace) was one of the main inspirations. Black clothing is a key aspect to the Cybergoth style (hence the word goth). But, it’s been accessorised with all sorts of different pieces. Shiny materials, bright jewellery and hair, and of course, awesome statement pieces, you name it, they wear it. Make up has also changed. It’s all about the neon pinks, greens, blues etc. Cyberdog are one of the leading brands that specialise in Cybergoth clothing. We are all about dancing, raving, bright colours and all things relating to futuristic fashion. With three stores across the UK and one store in our European party paradise Ibiza, it is no wonder we are representing!
If you need to add to your Cybergoth look visit us online today at www.cyberdog.net. In Brighton, Manchester or Camden this weekend? Head over to one of our stores. For the gravers out there, you won’t be disappointed. Our shops offer the ultimate rave experience! Raving is Back with a Bang February 16, 2016 00:00
Is raving a thing of the 80’s? The answer is NO! It hasn’t stopped yet and it isn’t going to if #cyberdog have anything to do with it!
Raving: A Past Party Style? We Think Not!
We all know what a rave is. Most of us have been raving for years. The real question is: do you still go raving regularly todat? If not, why not?! There is nothing better than partying all night, listening to sick music and wearing your best party gear. Raving actually started back in the 1950’s with our friends the hippies. In the 80’s, Techno and Acid House started taking over and that’s where the real all nighters started.
Today, everything has become so safe (some would say boring). But, it looks like there could be an awesome change in 2016 because ravers are back! People want to party again. They want to have fun, dance, go wild for a night (or two, or ten). That said, we all know that the rave scene never died. Raving just turned into clubbing because of the more controlled environment we all had to adapt to. Is it still the case though? Are we breaking away from our safe ways once again?
Raving in the UK
There are already some pretty wild events in the UK. Unfortunately illegal raves are not going to become “okay” with the majority of society anytime soon. Hence the word “illegal”. We’ve made up for our sins with our incredible festival season. The difference is everything is all organised and monitored. But do these have the same feel as 80's and 90's raves? Bestival, the Secret Garden Party and the other hundred festivals we run are awesome. There is no doubt about that. But, do they feed our need for naughtiness and breaking social barriers like raving does? Probably not.
It looks like recent news is telling us people want to let loose again though. Us Brits want a party and the rest of the world agrees! Everywhere has rules and regulations. Of course, we all have to play along with them but where does it end? It’s time to find a middle ground between our new, modern society and our old school party animals.
Although you won't be completely free to do as you please, the Hippie, Retro Acid parties are back! Loads of events are being organised at the moment to reintroduce raving for the generations of today. Sankey’s club owner, David Vincent, will be kicking off with some of the biggest pioneers of the rave scene. At the moment we don’t have too much information on the event. Although we do know that it will be during Easter Sunday in a secret location in Manchester. We also know that it will keep you up all night so keep your eyes and ears peeled!
David Vincent isn’t the only one itching to get his rave on. There are rumours that Londoners want to take over the streets of Shoreditch to show their passion for the UK’s underground scene. Annie Mac is also joining in with her Lost & Found Festival this year that is introducing an insane lineup. Also, if you love Game of Thrones and raving then you will want to head to Rave of Thrones at The Vaults, London for a Game of Thrones themed rave. These are just examples of some of the parties that are in the limelight. Raves are popping up everywhere at the moment. The real party is back and we will be sharing more info about all these soon!
Rave Art and Fashion
Everyone wants to be part of this returning rave culture. It’s a great way to get involved, meet new people and feel free! Now, raving has become more than just music, partying and staying up all night. Rave culture has become part of our art industries worldwide. With big designers like Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein throwing 90’s rave events for their new lines, it is no wonder raving is back.
That said where is the future of rave fashion going? That is where Cyberdog come in. "Born in the 90’s worn in the future" is our motto and we live by it! Camden Originals, Future Noir, Daisuki Vibes, Cyber Core and House of Neon are our lines and they are designed with raving and clubbing in mind. Terry and Spiros found their inspiration in their love for partying and all things sci-fi. They started making clothing that reflected the insane energy that came with the ever evolving rave scene of the 80’s. You probably get why the word “cyber” came into the name Cyberdog. The word dog on the other hand came from their pet Chihuahua: Chi Chi. Today, Cyberdog is still a one of a kind rave and club wear brand and the stores reflects just that. Sick tunes, bright colours, an insane atmosphere is what you will find in Camden, Manchester and Brighton! Raving is a thing of the future not just the past!
Come and join in the party at one of our stores or visit us online at www.cyberdog.net. Our stores are mental and reflect our "work hard, play hard" mentality. We love hearing about how people like to party or what they like to wear when they hit the town. So, drop us a line on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr to get in touch today!
